Pakistan’s Struggle with Diplomacy

Diplomacy is the cunning tool devised to capture national interests by the nations throughout the world. Its modern history is very scanty but deep rooted in the current sociopolitical setup of national life. States emphasized on the development of diplomats and nurture them to take on the challenges put before them. Since the inception of the nation states, diplomacy has distinctively consumed an important stature and has induced conflicts of various intensities. It affects every fold of life ranging from social, political, and environmental and has caused discord among the nations. Its colossal power to subdue ones opponents cannot be undermined.

From the medieval times, dynasties had used this tool to dethrone their foes and to snub their subjects to avert imminent threats of revolts against them.  East india company came to subcontinent to enhance their economic ties with the local community but under the pretext of business they consolidated their power and overthrew the Mughal empire through their double edged sword of deception and diplomacy. But their success cannot be accounted on their sole military might; locals had defected and treacherously collaborated with the whites. Another prominent example from the Muslim world is the fall of spain in the hands of Christians which exhibits the power and spell of diplomacy.

It’s evident from the retrospection that diplomacy has dramatically changed the political landscape of the world. From world wars to regional and local conflicts new nations emerged and the balance of power was restored or disrupted. And the human race has been ridden by the calamity just because of the abuse of the diplomacy.

Pakistan inherited feudal and bureaucratic mindset from the british ruled india where they used to confined the public liberties and curtailed their freedom of speech through this very unjust and inhumane apparatus where concentration of power was resided in the hands of few people and the fate of the locals was vested upon the will of the man in charge. Pakistani policy hampered in the early years and disillusioned by the impotency and misconceptions of the policy makers about world affairs. Civil military tussle and the looming threat from the hostile neighbor had contributed to the dysfunctional diplomacy which had culminated in the various failures. The underlying reasons in our faint and grim start in world affairs cannot be postulated here, but the crux of our journey can be traced back in the annals of history as the criminal negligence and reluctance of constitutional reforms which had obstructed the development of solid foundations of every institution.

Although we have been subjected to the discrimination at international level but owing to our own shortcomings and immature policy various fronts viz. war on terror and dormant Kashmir issue has become embarrassment for the nation which has compelled us to rekindle and infuse changes to accommodate varying interests in the light of volatile and ferocious world politics.

Yellow Journalism Percolation in Pakistani Media

We have been through the menace currently intruded in our hearts and minds by the infant media of Pakistan, who has yet to conquer many frontiers before intrepid and invariable roles played by it in protection of national interests and public welfare at large. From its conception to this date i have never been as enthusiastic about its goals as conceived by the government. Despite its vast projection and influential capabilities, our media is busy in minting money through flouting basic tenets of our ideology and airing controversial programs that has not only instrumental for bringing disdain to the audience but also provoking communal strains.

The spectrum of its obnoxious activities has gone beyond the limits, where one can easily identify its ulterior motives and agenda. Not surprisingly media tycoons are deliberate in their choice of what to be focused and what to be maligned.

Our youth has been inculcated by indian content which has cheaply been bought to spotlight soft image of indian fraternity for Pakistan which is the deadliest arch-ship against us and has been seen clearly without being skeptical that they are working against the state. Media circles are highly disregarded for their vague roles and critics have undoubtedly gone one step ahead by calling them “The Fifth Pylon of Enemy”.
Pakistani state should have regulated it at the time of its rise, so as to bring their reins under control. It is seemingly highly treacherous and hard to curb its anti-social and anti-state activities. One can pray to Almighty God for divine intervention to rupture this ugly facet of our media that has obliged more to our adversaries than to our own people.

Siachen: An Iron Fist of Pakistan Military

Since the advent of siachen conflict both militaries are confronting each other and competing for complete hegemony over their adversaries. This area is comprised of many glaciers adjacent to Chinese controlled shaksam valley. Pakistan’s position is very clear that indian withdrawal is the only demand and option which is constantly echoed through Islamabad. For them india illegally occupied Pakistani territory from NJ 9842 to Karakoram Pass and the territory northwest to it up to indra col.
Pakistan military moved in to stop further indian advance in the area and snatched the initiative from them, now it’s a logistical nightmare for them to maintain permanent presence there. Stalemate has served status quo for both sides. No side is benefiting from this impassable terrain. Economic meltdown is raising concerns for them; frozen weather conditions and inapproachable terrain are the other extremes of this conflict which has resulted in thousands of amputations and deaths. From the severity of this conflict it is evident that Indians are not willing to vacate their positions, many rounds of talks have been conducted to discuss the modalities of the issue. But they remain futile and did not yield any outcome. For Indians it’s the only area that can serve to lodge their claim against Chinese presence there. It provides not only strategic wedge against Pak-China alliance but also serves a pressure point against Pakistani ambitions. This overview is essential to understand the gravity of the situation and the majority of Pakistanis don’t know why india is not interested to relinquish this area.

From a Pakistani perspective it is important to highlight the significance of siachen. Because through this deployment of forces Pakistan has almost halted indian mischievous desires to threaten KKH, the only road link between Pakistan and China. Pakistani military establishment is well aware of this scenario and perceive colossal threat and has convinced them to take solid measures against the enemy. Pakistan cannot rollback its forces unilaterally unless their counterpart india show signs to solve the dispute. Money and other resources are no match for the strategic value and the locality of this glacier. We must strengthen our positions there and fight till Indians forced to leave our land.

We must secure KKH trade route which is vital for our economical interests.
