Intimidating Outlook of Middle East

Arab nations have been in a continuous state of irony. When it comes to explain the autocracy in these countries then we must understand the recent unrest which has been swallowing the daunting implications for these tyrants. Middle East geographically resides many anomalies which needs to be affixed to preserve peace against the all surmounting challenges. And among them, ‘Israeli factor’ has created much rift across the Arab world. Unless this looming threat can’t be neutralized Arab states can’t get on the way of progress.

Historically menace posed by Israel has let Arab nations to take precautionary measures to avoid further indentation between peace and duel. But as the famous saying proclaimed by one of the intellect that, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is to keep the silence by good people.” Same happened when international community never reacted on the noxious moves of Israel who wishes to maintain its hegemony under its own terms.

Native Arabs who are already feeling resentments over unjust policies and dual standards of international community has failed to control anger against their respective governments and started agitation.

We have seen deterioration on the streets of Egypt, where people are demanding Mubarak to step-down from power.

With increase in violence government has called in armed forces to control the situation. But it seems to have no end until people’s demands will not be accepted. This enraged situation has alarmed the Arab world and infused the same rebellion in them to some extent, which have been ruled viciously by dictatorial rule from many decades.

Pakistan has also intimated by grave uncertain conditions which are constantly accelerating at fast rate. It could have been detrimental for us too if our leaders failed to cope with the prevailing demands.

Junagadh a Lost History

Pakistan officially gained independence with the emergence of various myths and oblivious dichotomous tales relating to its classified demarcation. British india was divided on religious lines and Muslim majority areas were ceded to Pakistan, with a provision for princely states to choose either between Pakistan or india. Kashmir, Hyderabad Deccan and the state of Junagadh were among those upon whom newly created nations about to quell their harmony and peace forever.

As Kashmir's Sikh ruler decided to accede with india by thrashing the will of its subjects which were majority Muslims, same happened to the contemporary states of Junagadh and Hyderabad Deccan with little inversion where Muslim rulers but with Muslim dwellers decided to go for Pakistan. Instead of endorsing their accession with Pakistan india annexed these princely states through the use of unprecedented force. UN resolutions are still pending to this date, as Pakistan decided to knock its doors when disappointed by indian measures.

Though this matter has been dwindled in the wake of the current geopolitics of the region and left a remarkable margin for us to ponder, that why we bore this humiliating silence since the advent of this crisis. We could have reacted robustly to thwart indian heinous designs but we didn't.

Would we ever able to resurrect this issue again from its ashes and show some seriousness to compensate the mistakes done by us in the past??

Tunisian Crisis and its Repercussions for Arab World

Tunisia has seen recent regime change that has inspired arab world, which is being subjugated by dictatorship for almost many decades. Country’s president Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali fled to Saudi Arabia and asked for asylum there. His government toppled down under severe economic crunch as the country going through it for many reasons. Question is, will adjacent arab nations feel the growing antagonism against their respective tyrants and spearhead such agitation as seen in Tunisia, or will they defer it to some other mishap to happen.

Will they wait till the deterioration of economy or just gone wildly against their rulers without any solid reason?

Regional paradigm is going to change soon, but how long will it take to happen is uncertain.

Strategic Depth: A Dream or a Reality

Overview

Muslims of the subcontinent vehemently struggled to get their political rights in an appropriate and just proportion under the leadership of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Their long lasted efforts embodied mass agitation and direct action in the wake of cabinet mission plan whom mandate was to persuade all stakeholders especially Muslims to defer the partition. But surprisingly congress rejected the plan and viceroy had to announce the partition which culminated in the creation of Pakistan. Initially Pakistan got bigger share of districts according to the prescribed partition but britian stabbed Muslim leadership in collaboration with congress and snatched various key districts in both the western and eastern wings. Those were the ultimate causes of inherited insecurity among the ranks of military establishment of Pakistan since its inception.

Demarcation plan was unfair, prejudiced and one-sidedly favoured india that bifurcated Muslims of india and left them in a mare despondence.

Disputes

Pakistan endowed with grave concerns at the time of independence and mostly about the rehabilitation of the refugees and the settlement of border disputes peacefully with india. All things went wrong when india took us by surprise in an attempt to annex Kashmir against the will of their inhabitants. Since then Kashmir became the nuclear flash point and can any time escalates in a nuclear conflict.

Pakistan have had convinced the international community time and time again to take necessary measures to hold plebiscite in Kashmir under the auspices of the UN, but india deviated from its promises and has a wish to maintain the current status quo which is by no means sane but will help india to prolong the issue, provided they deliberately failed to comply to their international obligations and pledges. This stern behavior has earned them a title of ‘International Fugitive’.

Debacle of Dhaka

Pakistan recovered remarkably from the grim of ‘exodus influx’ but sooner or later afflicted by the uninvited internal instability that lead to the infringement of the political process. This further encouraged military to replace democracy by autocracy. Had we let the political process to flourish, integrity of Pakistan could have not endangered any more. Though Pakistan fought several wars and among them 1971 indo-pak war will remain in our minds for ever which have enabled us to comprehend the causes of the failure. I have the vivid memories of Indian incursions though I was not born at that juncture, all I came to know through the sources which are appraised these days in our media for their intrepid and gallant role of reporting behind the enemy lines which were not accessible at that time.

Eastern command of Pakistan fought against all odds and endeavored to achieve the impossible task of holding the ground as they assumed that india would soon step back unilaterally. But india succeeded to induce rebellion in bangali masses by exploiting them in the name of race and economic deprivation, against West Pakistan and within a very short span of time East Pakistan seceded from the rest of the nation. A lengthy exegesis on the causes of Pakistani failure was compiled by the commission chaired under ‘Hamood ur Rahman’, which was published recently. Their findings were almost same as we are highlighting it here, that Indian aggression decisively turned the tide in their favour.

Sub Continent under Nuclear Umbrella

According to a famous saying which is stated as “An obsession with technology as a panacea for life” is rightly fixed in the affairs of these two neighboring countries. When india went nuclear, Pakistan strongly advocated to get in nuclear race too to counter threat perception under these inimical conditions. It is important for Pakistan to retain minimum deterrence to thwart their evil desires harboring inside them. Now it is almost impossible for india to even think of executing any military doctrine against its nuclear armed rival.

Strategic Depth

I’m an ardent believer that Pakistan’s strategic depth lays in the pursuance of a policy that may result in the ultimate liquidation of india. Pakistan should support insurgent groups inside india and to keep them apart by quarreling them with the Indian federation. This will eventually mollify Pakistan. People of Pakistan should spearhead a movement for imminent rectification in its foreign policy. Because no nation can progress in the presence of timid policy. Democratic forces should influence ruling elite of Pakistan if they want to have respectable and dedicated image abroad.

Conclusion

In the presence of strong military Pakistan should focus on introducing economic reforms and to rely less on foreign assistance, I assured that nobody could even dare to see us with malicious intent.
