Karachi Unrest

Genesis of Pakistan stemmed from the growing political grievances and anguish between Muslim and Hindu communities in the sub-continent. Animosity among them has a long history and that has outflanked everything. Riots and killings, sufferings and pain had engulfed all. Millions were fall prey to this unstoppable misery from both sides and the demarcation of this region reflects the horrors which have never seen before. British introduced ferocious laws to subdue the subjects. Purpose was simple and that was to prolong its colonial hegemony and exploit the resources for their own good. After stiff resistance for independence, locals ceased power from British on their withdrawal and partition was the ultimate price for the sacrifices Muslim community gave to secure its glorious destiny.

Millions came to seek refuge in the newly born Muslim state and settled on the unfamiliar land and habitat. For them it’s a life time opportunity to fabricate better future for their offspring. Failure of democracy has widened the gulf between different ethnic groups settled on new land. Unstable conditions spearheaded the uncertain and complex dilemmas and dragged the nation on the brink of civil unrest. East Pakistan seceded from the rest of the country and the nation shocked and was trying to bear the irreparable.

That is the pretext in which Sindh conglomerated in a tinderbox where Urdu speaking community stood head-on to the sindhi population. Their rift was unfelt till musharaf tenure. And right after Benazir assassination and the take up of the power by her incompetent heirs had escalated the situation and resulted in target killings of innocent people from all circles every day.

Political motivation is the only reason behind this outstretching.  Along with this provocative maneuvering, sinister ambition of MQM has further inflamed the situation.

No government tried to diffuse the intensity of the events. Instead of bringing truce they stirred to gain concessions from others for their political mileage. Today the situation is so worse that the financial hub of Pakistan is suffering injuries from its own dwellers. Economy is slopping down and stagnation is afflicted on every field which has resulted in   unemployment and insecurity.

This abnormality could be resolved if government show sincerity. Law abiding society and impartial crack down on miscreants is the two prong strategy to calm down this outrageous rampage.

India's Growing Role in Afghanistan

From the very onset of the war on terror, government of Pakistan sagaciously adopting measures to contain india’s role from the region. As this is the dooming concern for her national security and sovereignity. Political developments has changed the outlook that was once tilted in Pakistan’s favour. With the downfall of taliban, Pakistan lost its monopoly over its neighbouring troubled nation who’s dewellers are predominantly Muslims.
This contagious region is stick with the strong bonds of rich culture, literature, rituals, customs and most importantly religion which is the force-multiplier for the Pakistani thinktanks to device such machanism that will eventually bring our close alliance to its zenith. But indians are aware of the danger in the form of this pinching pain that can’t be left unaltered or overlooked. They are covertly infiltrating into the afghan strata to upside down the reconciliatory efforts currently undergoing between Pakistan and Afghanistan. As this was initiated by the composition of the ‘Grand Peace Girga’ few years back.
Heavy investment by indians in Afghanistan induced destabilization and rampaged the wave of terror in Pakistan is the only tool in their hands through which they are trying to rupture the brotherly relations and to imprint everlasting confusion and distrust between these two nations.
International community should tug them away from Afghan affairs. And pressurize them not to manipulate conditions for their own good. Because this will flare up the flames and push the region in mere chaos and anarchy.

War on Terror: The Role of Pakistan

A front-line state against terror is vehemently assaulted by its own US ally ever since the inception of this highly unpopular alliance which has cost us billions of dollars and thousands of lives. Pakistan is striving hard to widen the gulf of terror between us and the world, as it is the only nation which is paying countless sacrifices to secure this world from terror. Instead of all these humanely services we don't earn reputation and admiration which is our emphatic right.

World is busy in demonizing Pakistan by ignoring the very fact that had musharaf towed a nonaligned policy they would have been the bared targets of this onslaught.

Concluding Remarks: Government of Pakistan should devise a more coercive policy to debunk western propaganda by inculcating our view point before them.

Key to End Indian Annexation

Under turbulent and rigid conditions, freedom struggle in Indian held Kashmir is gaining strength with every passing day and a massive increase in agitation and anger among its dwellers has been observed on its streets. This is seemingly heading towards its logical conclusion. But instead of diffusing flames india deployed 0.75 million troops to prolong its illegal occupation.
Kashmir is separated between Pakistan and india by an imaginary line of control. Though no one has ever tried to investigate about its real demarcation, which can be a pivotal point to comprehend this issue.
So let’s begin to understand its geography. Kashmir is situated in the north western corner of the sub-continent. And stretches from the vast land of ‘Aksai chin to a narrow strip of Azad Kashmir’, majority believes that northern areas of Pakistan are also included in its fair territory. But fail to mention the causes behind the public revolt against the then cruel ruler of Kashmir who purchased it from british raj against the genuine wishes of its people. Gilgit-Baltistan is the incontrovertible evidence of its people’s wishes, which were succeeded to gain independence from sikh rule in the early nineteenth century and ceded to the remaining pushtoon belt. The above picture depicts that Muslims are enjoying the absolute majority in the region and have every right to consider its accession with Pakistan.
Today india occupied the land which historically belongs to Pakistan and is committing human rights abuses to revert the freedom movement. Though Aksai chin is administered by china and its legality can be debated but Azad Kashmir was liberated by the freedom fighters and can not be questioned any more. International human rights organizations have shown grave concerns against the brutal persecution of Kashmiri people in the hands of Indian forces to suppress the popular demand of liberty.
Mass killings in the hands of the BSF death squad has enraged kashmiri population and inclined them towards armed rebellion against illegal occupation. Nevertheless the hopes are rarely bleak that india would unilaterally agree on the terms tabled by the people of Kashmir, which is truly depicted by the UN resolutions. Unless their demand of plebiscite would not be honored india failed to convince them on any acceptable solution.
Pakistan can bring revolutionary changes to mould swing of the time against Indian occupation in Kashmir simply by inciting masses and to pour every pinch of help necessary for freedom endeavourers who are fighting with occupational forces, and simultaneously should jolt the conscience of world community for result oriented mediation between the two countries. Robust efforts can win the written destiny and to grab it one should push itself to the limits. Instead india have had accused of ceding some territory of Kashmir by Pakistan to china, which is rejected boldly by its counterpart. Pakistan fought three wars on this issue which has made both nations hostage since the departure of britishers. Both nations are spending huge share of their budget to maintain hold on their respective areas. All disputes including Kashmir should be resolved and to let this happen both nations should enunciate willingness that can bridge lack of trust and will eventually pulverize all hostilities.
There has been a small scale resurgence of guerrilla activities in Indian held Kashmir that has claimed innocent lives of civilians. But extra judicial killings and blatant executions by the government forces stirred the circumstances more volatile and violent. Perhaps india is looking for feasible time where it can show some resilience to find solutions for the problem. But by turning down demands of APHC and negating its political standing can’t help in resolving the issue.
Both nations agreed to resume composite dialogues to help diffuse tensions between these countries. Numerous rounds of such talks were held but the matter is still pending for any consideration. Either mumbai attacks or samghota express sabotage proved to be the last nail in the casket of all assertions regarding Kashmir which has dented all hopes.
Despite of all these misfortunes I am susceptible to my intuitive instinct which has forced me to believe that Pakistan and india can still halt further deterioration in their affairs and will search ways to root out scepticism between them.

Intimidating Outlook of Middle East

Arab nations have been in a continuous state of irony. When it comes to explain the autocracy in these countries then we must understand the recent unrest which has been swallowing the daunting implications for these tyrants. Middle East geographically resides many anomalies which needs to be affixed to preserve peace against the all surmounting challenges. And among them, ‘Israeli factor’ has created much rift across the Arab world. Unless this looming threat can’t be neutralized Arab states can’t get on the way of progress.

Historically menace posed by Israel has let Arab nations to take precautionary measures to avoid further indentation between peace and duel. But as the famous saying proclaimed by one of the intellect that, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is to keep the silence by good people.” Same happened when international community never reacted on the noxious moves of Israel who wishes to maintain its hegemony under its own terms.

Native Arabs who are already feeling resentments over unjust policies and dual standards of international community has failed to control anger against their respective governments and started agitation.

We have seen deterioration on the streets of Egypt, where people are demanding Mubarak to step-down from power.

With increase in violence government has called in armed forces to control the situation. But it seems to have no end until people’s demands will not be accepted. This enraged situation has alarmed the Arab world and infused the same rebellion in them to some extent, which have been ruled viciously by dictatorial rule from many decades.

Pakistan has also intimated by grave uncertain conditions which are constantly accelerating at fast rate. It could have been detrimental for us too if our leaders failed to cope with the prevailing demands.

Junagadh a Lost History

Pakistan officially gained independence with the emergence of various myths and oblivious dichotomous tales relating to its classified demarcation. British india was divided on religious lines and Muslim majority areas were ceded to Pakistan, with a provision for princely states to choose either between Pakistan or india. Kashmir, Hyderabad Deccan and the state of Junagadh were among those upon whom newly created nations about to quell their harmony and peace forever.

As Kashmir's Sikh ruler decided to accede with india by thrashing the will of its subjects which were majority Muslims, same happened to the contemporary states of Junagadh and Hyderabad Deccan with little inversion where Muslim rulers but with Muslim dwellers decided to go for Pakistan. Instead of endorsing their accession with Pakistan india annexed these princely states through the use of unprecedented force. UN resolutions are still pending to this date, as Pakistan decided to knock its doors when disappointed by indian measures.

Though this matter has been dwindled in the wake of the current geopolitics of the region and left a remarkable margin for us to ponder, that why we bore this humiliating silence since the advent of this crisis. We could have reacted robustly to thwart indian heinous designs but we didn't.

Would we ever able to resurrect this issue again from its ashes and show some seriousness to compensate the mistakes done by us in the past??

Tunisian Crisis and its Repercussions for Arab World

Tunisia has seen recent regime change that has inspired arab world, which is being subjugated by dictatorship for almost many decades. Country’s president Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali fled to Saudi Arabia and asked for asylum there. His government toppled down under severe economic crunch as the country going through it for many reasons. Question is, will adjacent arab nations feel the growing antagonism against their respective tyrants and spearhead such agitation as seen in Tunisia, or will they defer it to some other mishap to happen.

Will they wait till the deterioration of economy or just gone wildly against their rulers without any solid reason?

Regional paradigm is going to change soon, but how long will it take to happen is uncertain.

Strategic Depth: A Dream or a Reality

Overview

Muslims of the subcontinent vehemently struggled to get their political rights in an appropriate and just proportion under the leadership of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Their long lasted efforts embodied mass agitation and direct action in the wake of cabinet mission plan whom mandate was to persuade all stakeholders especially Muslims to defer the partition. But surprisingly congress rejected the plan and viceroy had to announce the partition which culminated in the creation of Pakistan. Initially Pakistan got bigger share of districts according to the prescribed partition but britian stabbed Muslim leadership in collaboration with congress and snatched various key districts in both the western and eastern wings. Those were the ultimate causes of inherited insecurity among the ranks of military establishment of Pakistan since its inception.

Demarcation plan was unfair, prejudiced and one-sidedly favoured india that bifurcated Muslims of india and left them in a mare despondence.

Disputes

Pakistan endowed with grave concerns at the time of independence and mostly about the rehabilitation of the refugees and the settlement of border disputes peacefully with india. All things went wrong when india took us by surprise in an attempt to annex Kashmir against the will of their inhabitants. Since then Kashmir became the nuclear flash point and can any time escalates in a nuclear conflict.

Pakistan have had convinced the international community time and time again to take necessary measures to hold plebiscite in Kashmir under the auspices of the UN, but india deviated from its promises and has a wish to maintain the current status quo which is by no means sane but will help india to prolong the issue, provided they deliberately failed to comply to their international obligations and pledges. This stern behavior has earned them a title of ‘International Fugitive’.

Debacle of Dhaka

Pakistan recovered remarkably from the grim of ‘exodus influx’ but sooner or later afflicted by the uninvited internal instability that lead to the infringement of the political process. This further encouraged military to replace democracy by autocracy. Had we let the political process to flourish, integrity of Pakistan could have not endangered any more. Though Pakistan fought several wars and among them 1971 indo-pak war will remain in our minds for ever which have enabled us to comprehend the causes of the failure. I have the vivid memories of Indian incursions though I was not born at that juncture, all I came to know through the sources which are appraised these days in our media for their intrepid and gallant role of reporting behind the enemy lines which were not accessible at that time.

Eastern command of Pakistan fought against all odds and endeavored to achieve the impossible task of holding the ground as they assumed that india would soon step back unilaterally. But india succeeded to induce rebellion in bangali masses by exploiting them in the name of race and economic deprivation, against West Pakistan and within a very short span of time East Pakistan seceded from the rest of the nation. A lengthy exegesis on the causes of Pakistani failure was compiled by the commission chaired under ‘Hamood ur Rahman’, which was published recently. Their findings were almost same as we are highlighting it here, that Indian aggression decisively turned the tide in their favour.

Sub Continent under Nuclear Umbrella

According to a famous saying which is stated as “An obsession with technology as a panacea for life” is rightly fixed in the affairs of these two neighboring countries. When india went nuclear, Pakistan strongly advocated to get in nuclear race too to counter threat perception under these inimical conditions. It is important for Pakistan to retain minimum deterrence to thwart their evil desires harboring inside them. Now it is almost impossible for india to even think of executing any military doctrine against its nuclear armed rival.

Strategic Depth

I’m an ardent believer that Pakistan’s strategic depth lays in the pursuance of a policy that may result in the ultimate liquidation of india. Pakistan should support insurgent groups inside india and to keep them apart by quarreling them with the Indian federation. This will eventually mollify Pakistan. People of Pakistan should spearhead a movement for imminent rectification in its foreign policy. Because no nation can progress in the presence of timid policy. Democratic forces should influence ruling elite of Pakistan if they want to have respectable and dedicated image abroad.

Conclusion

In the presence of strong military Pakistan should focus on introducing economic reforms and to rely less on foreign assistance, I assured that nobody could even dare to see us with malicious intent.
